Working at Bruxelles-Energie

Bruxelles-Energie (BE) is a state-owned company and a subsidiary of the Regional Agency for Cleanliness (Bruxelles-Propreté). It is an integral part of the system responsible for collecting and treating waste resources in Brussels. The company reports directly to the holding company of Bruxelles-Propreté’s waste processing subsidiaries and – with a workforce of nearly 70 employees – runs the regional energy recovery unit. This industrial unit incinerates waste resources collected in the Brussels Region that cannot be reused, recycled or composted through alternative channels and converts them into valuable outputs (heat, electricity and by-products).

Bruxelles-Energie is therefore an essential part of the regional public strategy for the processing of waste resources.

Bruxelles-Propreté recently embarked on a gradual overhaul of its activities (including a change of management, a new strategic plan, changes to waste collection and commercial activities and the updating of collection and processing equipment) with the aim of confirming its role as a leading public industrial player in the Brussels region’s circular economy. The activities of Bruxelles-Energie represent part of this approach:  the company seeks to ensure the continuity of existing industrial activities, to develop them optimally in response to operational, legislative and technical developments, and to meet European and regional targets for recycling, reuse and value extraction from waste resources.

In this context, the plant is operated – and updated on an ongoing basis – with a focus on constantly optimising processes, striving for operational excellence and taking a proactive approach to complex industrial issues and the minimisation of environmental impacts.

To support its activities and meet the current and future challenges of its industrial facility, Bruxelles-Energie is regularly looking for qualified and motivated candidates.
