Bruxelles-Energie, a sorting centre subsidiary, produces energy from non-recyclable household waste. Since 1984, we have been converting this waste into electricity and heat, contributing to the energy supply of 65,000 households and operating Brussels’ largest district heating system. As a key player in resource circularity and recovery and processing on behalf of the citizens of Brussels, we are constantly innovating to reduce our environmental impact, optimise our production processes and ensure the efficiency of our operations.
To reinforce our teams and support the industrial development of the energy recovery unit, we are looking for a new colleague:
Automation engineer (M/F/X)

What will your responsibilities be?
- Analysing the performance of the current PLC systems to identify areas for improvement and optimising the efficiency of the installations.
- Designing and programming control systems and PLC programs adapted to operational needs and in line with safety standards.
- Taking care of the testing, validation and commissioning of programs before their deployment on site.
- Carrying out the preventive and corrective maintenance of control and industrial automation systems to minimise breakdowns and maximise production.
- Providing technical support to the operation and maintenance teams in the event of malfunctions if adjustments need to be made.
- Bringing and keeping technical documentation up to date, including wiring diagrams, control diagrams and intervention reports.
- Tracking and ensuring the traceability of changes made to the systems.
- Working with the project team to investigate new applications.
Desired profile:
- Industrial engineer specialising in electrical engineering, automation, etc.
- 5 years of experience in industrial automation.
- High level of proficiency in PLC programming languages (Ladder Logic, Rockwell Automation, Structured Text, etc.) and associated development environments (Siemens, Schneider Electric, Allen-Bradley, etc.).
- Expertise in industrial communication protocols (Modbus, Profibus, Ethernet/IP, etc.) and SCADA/EMS systems for remote control of installations.
- Familiarity with general automation techniques and those used in industrial settings.
- A knowledge of control technology and regulation circuits.
- Ability to express yourself (orally and in writing) in French (C2).
- A knowledge of Dutch and/or English is an advantage.
